Auburn-based Metal Technologies Inc. has completed its acquisition of Rochester Metal Products, an iron foundry with a history dating to 1937. The Fulton County facility will now operate as Metal Technologies Rochester.

The acquisition adds about 350 employees to Metal Technologies and expands its manufacturing capacity, engineering resources and customer base, the company said in a news release. Rochester produces gray and ductile iron castings and has both horizontal and vertical molding capabilities.

“Rochester Metal Products has built an outstanding reputation for quality, technical expertise and customer service over nearly 90 years,” Metal Technologies CEO Matthew Fetter said. “We have long admired the Kersey family and the Rochester team for not only their competitive manufacturing capabilities, but also their values, integrity and commitment to long-term relationships.”

Metal Technologies did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition.

Rochester operates a roughly 250,000-square-foot facility serving customers across several industries. Its capabilities include induction melting and specialized iron casting production.

The acquisition brings Metal Technologies’ total employment to more than 2,100 workers. The company now operates five foundries and two machining facilities across the United States and Mexico, with about 410,000 tons of annual gray and ductile iron casting capacity.

The combined company has 19 molding lines, including 15 Disamatic vertical molding lines and four horizontal molding lines, along with more than 200 CNC machines.

Metal Technologies’ foundries are located in Auburn and Rochester, Indiana; Three Rivers and Ravenna, Michigan; and San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Its machining facilities are in Hillsdale, Michigan, and San Luis Potosí.
