IMA's MFG Day Celebration!

Each October, manufacturers throughout the country celebrate Manufacturing Day (MFG DAY), a movement that serves to shine a spotlight on the impact of US manufacturers. The campaign provides an inside look to the next generation of makers and creators. Manufacturers, large and small, open their doors for tours, demonstrations, and visit local schools to promote careers in the industry. Students learn about modern manufacturing, the job opportunities available, as well as hear about the outstanding pay and benefits.

At the IMA, we love to celebrate manufacturing, and we held our 2025 Manufacturing Day Celebration luncheon, on October 1, at the Biltwell Event Center, in Indianapolis.

The event included the presentation of the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame Inductions, a small, select group of manufacturers honored for their long-time commitment, investment, and ongoing growth to elevate Indiana’s manufacturing sector and economy. The 2025 Manufacturers Hall of Fame Inductees included:

Dart Controls, Indianapolis

Grain Millers, Marion

Steel Dynamics, Inc., Indiana locations

The luncheon also included the presentation of the Indiana Manufacturing Excellence Awards, an awards program that encourages industry members to nominate their company and/or peers in special categories for their outstanding achievements. The 2025 Manufacturing Excellence Award winners were:

Community Impact Award:  Cleveland-Cliffs, all Indiana locations

Emerging Leader Award:  Jordan Sherman of NASCO Industries, Inc., Washington, IN

Lifetime Achievement Award:  Steve, Ron and Rick Overton of Overton Industries, Mooresville/Franklin, IN

Manufacturing Talent Champion Award:  Perfecto Tool & Engineering, Anderson, IN

Outstanding Woman Leader in Manufacturing:  Kimberly Perkins, Amatrol, Jeffersonville, IN

Safety Champion Award:  Kristin Jarrett, dormakaba USA, Inc., all Indiana locations

Our keynote speaker for the luncheon was Barry LaBov, of LABOV Marketing Communications and Training. Barry's topic was "The Power of Differentiation: Win Hearts, Minds and Market Share." Barry shared stories of some of Indiana's leading companies and how they were able to re-think how they were branding and marketing themselves, not just to their customers but to their own employees. Each attendee received a copy of Barry's recent book, titled "The Power of Differentiation," which is available for sale on Amazon.

Thanks to all who attended, sponsored and participated in the day!

WHAT IS MFG DAY?

Each October, manufacturers throughout the country celebrate Manufacturing Day (MFG DAY), a movement that serves to shine a spotlight on the impact of US manufacturers. The campaign provides an inside look to the next generation of makers and creators. Manufacturers, large and small, open their doors for tours, demonstrations, and visit local schools to promote careers in the industry. Students learn about modern manufacturing, the job opportunities available, as well as hear about the outstanding pay and benefits.

At the IMA, we love to celebrate manufacturing. In that vein, the IMA will be celebrating all that manufacturing brings to our state at our upcoming 2025 Manufacturing Day Celebration Luncheon, set to take place on October 1, at the Biltwell Event Center, in Indianapolis.
