During the 2019 Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame Luncheona panel discussed manufacturing issues, concerns and the outlook for the future. Katz, Sapper & Miller LLP and the IU Kelley School of Business also unveiled the 2019 Indiana Manufacturing Survey: Labor Shortages Hit Home 

Members of the Honda Manufacturing of Indiana team accept the Community Impact Award at the IMA Manufacturers Hall of Fame Luncheon on October 16. This year's event included the newly instituted Manufacturing Excellence Awards. Next year's award nominations will be announced in Spring 2020, so stay tuned! 

 

The IMA Board of Directors heard from Gloria Sachdev, CEO of the Employers’ Forum of Indiana, regarding the Rand 2.0 study on hospital costs. Indiana ranks the highest in relative price for hospital care among all 25 states included in the study. The IMA is forming a committee to study the issue in hopes of passing legislation that will reduce costs for Indiana businesses and consumers.

The Indiana Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (INFAME) held its latest event at Steel Dynamics Inc., in Fort Wayne, on July 12. The event attracted area business leaders and educators to learn more about the Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) Program and how companies can work with other area manufacturers to open a local chapter and help build a pipeline of available workers for the manufacturing industry.
